WHO
The Cleveland County Arts Council (CCAC) invites all artists (ages 16+) to create 1 – 3 secret mini masterpieces which will be for sale to art lovers March 29 – April 12.
New this year: Gamblers Sale – the Art of Not Knowing. On March 29 – April 4, art lovers purchase the work(s) they most love for $40 each. Then, April 5 – April 9 artwork will be sold for $30, and April 10 – April 12, artwork is further reduced to $20. Our Motto: SHOP EARLY for the best selection Or GAMBLE for the best price.

WHAT
Do what you do best – create art! CCAC will provide you with 5x7” archival quality canvases upon which you can create your art (painting, collage, drawing, mixed media, clay, textile, or any media that will adhere to the canvas and still be hung). These anonymous works of art, made by you and other artists, will be on display and sold at our Mystery Art event March 29 – April 12. All artists’ identities will remain concealed until the work is sold! You can create and donate more than one mini masterpiece (up to 3), but DO NOT sign the front of your work. Instead, please, SIGN THE BACK of your work and DO NOT frame your work. Then simply return the work to us by March 21st and please keep it a secret!

HOW
Fill out the attached reply card and return it to the Arts Council by January 20th. We’ll prepare your Mystery Art packet, containing canvases and instructions for creating and donating your mini masterpiece which you can pick up at the Arts Council. If you want your packet shipped, please include $5.00 with your reply card. Participating artists will be listed on our website and in promotional and marketing materials for Mystery Art. The artwork will be posted on our website – anonymously, of course. You will receive an invitation to the Mystery Art opening reception at the Arts Center on March 29.

WHEN
February 8 – Artist commitments, canvas requests and $5 for shipping (if shipped to you) are due to CCAC
*Canvases are IN! Come by and pick them up, unless you need them mailed.

WHY
Proceeds from Mystery Art will be used to support the programs and services of the Cleveland County Arts Council. Founded in 1986, CCAC has been dedicated to promoting and supporting all artists by providing a place to exhibit and sell their artwork. We also provide funding to individual artists and organizations through the Regional Artists Project Grant and Grassroots Grants of the NC Arts Council, publicity and resources through our website, and serve as an arts advocate. Only through the support of our artists, volunteers, sponsors, and community, may we continue to offer a wide variety of arts programs to citizens of all ages and fulfill our mission: to ensure that every member of our community has the opportunity to participate in and enjoy art forms that uplift, fulfill, and inspire.
