Beginner Oil Painting

Saturday, January 17, 10am-1pm
Instructor: Donna Downey

Let’s blend the simple joy of coffee with the art of painting. In this relaxing beginner’s oil workshop, we’ll explore how to see like an artist, discovering the play of light, shadow, and reflection while painting your own coffee cup still life.

As a self-taught artist, I used to be intimidated by oils until I learned how beautifully forgiving and blendable they are. Now I can’t imagine painting without them! I’ll guide you step-by-step through my process, showing how to mix values, layer creamy color, and build confidence with this rich, tactile medium.

I’ll provide the visuals for the coffee cup setup, but if you feel inspired to bring your most beloved mug or cup, I encourage that kind of creative fearlessness. Sometimes the objects we love most hold the best stories to paint.

By the end of class, you’ll not only leave with a finished painting but also a new perspective on what’s possible when you let go of fear and create freely.

Cost: $65

All supplies included — just bring your curiosity and love of coffee.

Intuitive Painting

January 31 and February 1, 2026, 10am-4pm each day

Join us for a 2-day immersive painting experience where intuition takes the lead. Through color, value, emotion, composition, and imagination, you’ll learn to trust your creative instincts and paint from a place of freedom rather than fear.

We’ll be painting on easels (and if that’s new to you, that’s part of the excitement) using acrylics to layer expressive color and texture. If you know you work super fast, consider bringing a second canvas because inspiration tends to move quickly in this workshop.

By the end of the weekend, you’ll leave with a deeper connection to your creative voice and a bold, intuitive painting that reflects your emotional and imaginative landscape.

Instructor: Donna Downey

 Cost: $250

 Studio Supply Fee: $50 (optional)

Perfect for those who prefer not to bring their own materials. This fee covers: • One 24x24" canvas provided for each student
