Uptown Shelby Association
Take your sweetheart on a Valentine's carriage ride through Uptown Shelby. Cost is $30 per couple which inlcudes a flower from Holly's Flowers. Reservations are required. Pictures are also available for $11 or $16 from Shelby Camera & Video. Call Uptown Shelby Association for details.
In Memory of and in Honor of luminaries will be placed on the court square form the holiday's. Due to the December burning ban luminiaries are shceduled for Valentine's Day.

Erma Drum Poetry Festival
The Erma Drum Poetry Contest honors a woman who had a great love for poetry. Erma Drum worked as The Star's Women's and Society Editor for 34 years. Held every year during April, National Poetry Month, the Poetry Contest is open to all students in public and private schools in Cleveland County in addition to Gardner-Webb University and Cleveland County Schools. Deadline to enter the Poetry Contest is 5pm, February 29th, 2008 at the Cleveland County Arts Council. Winners will be honored at the Erma Drum Poetry Festival on April 8, 2008 at Cleveland Community College.
Kings Mountain Arts Center
Please visit the Kings Mountain Art Center for Jack Greenfield's exhibit of new watercolors, the present ongoing show. Jack paints in a realistic style similar to Andrew Wyeth. You may recognize local scenery along with well known destinations around the country. This is Jack's second one man show at the Art Center. The exhibit runs January 13 thru February 29.
Children's art classes are the third Saturday of the month. The next class is February 16. Teacher will be Jewel Elliott. Class time is 9-11am. Cost is $5 per child, ages 6-12, supplies included. If you are able to teach a Children's class please call the Art Center to volunteer. The children will appreciate it and you'll have fun too!

Historic Cleveland County Courthouse ornaments are available from the Historic Shelby Foundation. The solid brass three dimensional ornaments can be displayed on a stand which is included or on a Christmas tree. 1907 Courthouse ornaments are available as well as those of other historic landmarks from Historic Shelby.
